CEQUENT TOWING PRODUCTS:
HOW THEY ARE BUILT

Cequent Towing Products’ operations spans several continents and employs the latest in engineering, manufacturing and distribution practices. Headquartered in Plymouth, Michigan, Cequent Towing’s main offices in this Detroit suburb houses the executive staff as well as the engineering, marketing, accounting, product management, tech service and customer service departments. Cequent Towing’s main manufacturing facility is a state-of-the-art 388,000 square foot facility located in Goshen, Indiana. Cequent Towing Products focuses first on consumer safety. Safety and product performance are first priority. The Goshen facility also houses Cequent Towing engineers, and features advanced engineering technologies such as:

Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Advanced technologies in stress analysis allow Cequent Towing engineers to evaluate structural strength and material utilization of designs before they are prototyped and tested.

Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM): Advanced measuring technologies allow our engineers to design exact fitment to vehicle frames to eliminate fit problems in the field. Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch and Reese hitches and accessories assemble easily and use existing vehicle attachment points (no drilling) whenever possible.

Advanced testing techniques using computer-monitored and servo-controlled hydraulic bench stress-testing equipment bring each design through a simulated life cycle of service. The industry standard is to test for compliance with V5. In addition to V5 static testing, Cequent Towing conducts proprietary fatigue tests to validate the welded structure of the hitch and the integrity of attachments to the vehicle. Most recently, Cequent Towing began designing and testing to the brand-new SAE specifications for towing products, which have yet to become “standards”—yet, Cequent Towing is already designing, testing and certifying their heavy-duty products to these specs!

Installation instructions for Cequent Towing products are written from the viewpoint of a Do-It-Yourselfer. Sketches detailing the installation are supported by step-by-step procedures, which make Cequent Towing installation instructions easy to understand.

Cequent Towing’s Goshen facility also features advanced manufacturing techniques. Massive laser cutting machines, huge presses, punches and benders, robotic welders and of course, the best welding and assembly personnel in the towing industry team up to produce trailer hitches and accessories from raw steel components. When they’re done, a mile-long paint line that features the industry’s only in-house E-Coat (electro-deposition coating) process thoroughly coats each hitch and accessory with a rust-resistant finish inside and out before being topcoated and baked with a shiny black powder paint finish.

Cequent Towing also boasts an electrical manufacturing facility in Mexico. This manufacturing plant, in operation since the mid-1990s, builds all Tow Ready (Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch and Reese) T-One connectors as well as ModuLites, taillight converters, OEM replacement harnesses, electrical connectors and adapters.

There are six (6) Cequent Towing Products distribution centers across North America , geographically located to give Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch and Reese dealers and distributors quick service. Each features a state-of-the-art racking and picking system so orders are picked and packed for shipment quickly, efficiently and accurately. Cequent Towing Products’ distribution centers are located in Taylor, Michigan, Fresno, California, Arlington, Texas, Starke, Florida, Camp Hill, Pennsylvania and Oakville, Ontario Canada.
